Since it’s inception in 1991, JB Music Therapy (JBMT) has devoted itself to sustaining an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, professional team that provides music therapy to all persons in Southern Alberta regardless of age, ability or affluence. Every team member, including myself, strives to bring our clients the best in care practices by offering hope, compassion, and a positive experience for persons seeking growth and life long learning.

The aim of our intensive internship program is to equip the music therapy intern with an advanced training program  that exceeds their expectations, developing their skills from a beginner music therapist to a competent, mature employee.

Populations.

Long term care (senior’s and person’s with auto-immune conditions), learning challenges, acquired brain injury, mental health, young children with cerebral palsy and typical adults and children.  Hospital, school and community based settings.

Time Commitment.

An intensive 9 month internship.  Having a part time job evenings and/or weekends (in an unrelated field) is strongly encouraged to support the intern financially, socially and emotionally.

Supervision.

The intern will have the opportunity to be supervised from the entire Music Therapy Team. In addition to meetings with their primary supervisor, the intern will have opportunities to observe, be observed and receive feedback from music therapists at a minimum of 4 hours per week. Clinical Development meetings occur bi-annually.

Educational Resources.

The intern will be provided with an instrument kit and a detailed Internship Workbook broken down into 4 modules that guides them from beginner intern to mature practitioner (with accreditation papers submitted to the CAMT).

**The intern must posses their own reliable car.
